A long time ago, during the time when the Albany City School District was doing everything in its power to reduce and/or eliminate my high school, once known as the Street Academy of Albany (1970-1992), later known as Harriet Gibbons High School (1992-2005 HS, 2005-2010 as 9th grade prep), I had the opportunity to acquire copies of my school’s old yearbooks.
Trust me. These books are as rare as rare can be. In some cases … they may be the only copies that have survived to this day.
So what does one do when one gets their hands on such treasures?
Yeah. I scanned all the pages as PDF’s and uploaded them to the Internet.
And today, if you want to see what life was like in an inner-city alternative high school … I got cha covered. And yeah, if you’re looking for me – I make a couple of cameo appearances in the 1980 book, but you’ll clearly find me in the 1981 yearbook.
PLEASE NOTE: Many of these yearbooks are very graphics-intensive and may take some time to load on your web browser. Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher is required to view these yearbooks.
